Culinary Esquire - The B/CS Restaurant guide

FIRST IMPRESSION: While the place seems small and tucked away, don't be fooled. There were only 2 table tops available when we got to Twisted Noodle and no one was in the Subway next door. You can hear the homemade ramen noodles being twisted and slammed on the stainless steel counter which gives the place a more authentic vibe.

COURTESY: No courtesy food items were provided but once you order, your food comes out really hot and fresh, made to order. For example, we walked in about 5:30 PM and were seated, had ordered appetizers and served our first cheese wontons by 5:37 PM.

DRINKS: Canned drinks, Thai Ice Tea, Bubble Tea, Boba APPETIZER: We started off by ordering the cheese wontons and gyoza. The cheese wontons were crispy, hot, fresh and made to order. They had a wonderful color to them and weren't over cooked. The filling was tasty and we actually ordered another plate of them. The gyoza would have been good but this was a fail because we asked for it to be deep fried but were served pan fried instead. We would have liked the deep fried gyoza much better. The presentation of both of these was not impressive, rather plain and simplistic.

MEAL: For the meal, we had the spicy beef ramen, sub shrimp for the beef and the veggie ramen stir fry (no egg). Overall the presentation of the spicy ramen was good but some of the ingredients I would have liked to have seen in the ramen (such as fish cake) did not come with it. The broth was tasty but by far the best thing about Twisted Noodle was the homemade ramen noodles. The taste, thickness, consistency and texture of homemade ramen is just irreplaceable. We were very impressed with the homemade ramen noodles and haven't seen that anywhere else in B/CS.

OVERALL: This is definitely the place to come for homemade ramen noodles. Other places we've been only had pre-packaged noodles and weren't able to do a ramen stir fry, only soup. During the time we were there, a number of people came and went...Subway on the other hand, still had no customers. We would definitely come back.

2 ⭐ Atmosphere (cramped and plain)

5 ⭐ Price (worth it)

5 ⭐ Food (taste, homemade ramen, freshness and made to order)

4 ⭐ Service (server was nice but there was a language barrier so one of items was not prepared right)

5 ⭐ Guide's choice (has been the only homemade ramen we've found in B/CS)

TOTAL = 21⭐OVERALL CE Score

GAMBLE OUTCOME: WIN We always say that trying new places is like a gamble, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. This was definitely a win!

ABOUT THIS RATING: To give our rating the most objective weight we use 5 areas to score the restaurant: atmosphere, price, food, service and Guide's choice. The maximum score in each area is 5 stars for a possible total score of 25 stars. Because Google uses a 5 star rating system we then divide our total score by 5. Therefore,

21-25 stars = 5 stars

16-20 stars = 4 stars

11-15 stars = 3 stars

6-10 stars = 2 stars

1-5 stars = 1 star
